For me it has nothing to do with sound, although that scratchy hiss is definitely attached to many happy memories, more that 2nd hand vinyl has some bizarre gems to be mined. For example see attached picture. I won't bang on about it but I may post pictures of some of my more peculiar discoveries over time.
